This is a HIGH WATER WARNING due to the fact that the channel to the lake is closed. Any addition rain and our bay will raise above docks after Labor Day - so please plan accordingly. On Aug 18th, we had our contractor come in to open the channel with a scheduled "maintenance" dig. It was cleared out to be almost as wide and deep as the original cut in June. Unfortunately Hurricane Irene filled in the channel and it closed in - 2 to 3 ft high and 30 feet deep. The fact that we are over budget and underfunded, the prospects of reopening our channel again for the 2011 are dim, except to release flooding conditions. As of now, there will be no future digs unless we can raise the necessary funds for another maintenance dig through the 50/50 drawing. Another maintenance dig will cost $1500 that we just cannot afford at this time. Without the supplemental fund raisers like Monte Carlo night and Bingo contributions, the Board will need to contemplate raising the dues to $100 next year to keep the channel open for the 2012 season.
